Indian Ocean - Ma Rewa at NH7 Weekender in New Delhi Oct, 2012 on the Dewarists stage.
Megadeth was performing simultaneously on the other stage (very badly I must say- i had actually gone to see them - ran away after hearing the horrible unclear tones, very unlike their studio stuff). and thank god for megadeth, because i ended up at this stage and Indian Ocean were rocking it, with a fairly large and encouraging crowd who didn't give two hoots about the metal mania happening on the other arena.
The audio is good. The focussing is a little hazy at times because I haven't figured out how to keep it constant in this phone.

Humanwires - Silence/Noise (The Nokia 808 Garage Band Challenge, Part I) @ Tampere, Finland
When your band consists of two soon-to-be engineers and one wannabe-engineer experimentation with technology is inevitable.
We wanted to know how well the Nokia 808 Pureview can handle loud sounds in a not-so-friendly sound environment (also known as a garage), so we took one of our songs and recorded every instrument individually with the phone and compiled the audio tracks together. The result is yours to listen. The only processing we did to the audio tracks was compression and a low cut EQ to the vocal track which means that what you are hearing is pretty much as it was recorded by the phone.
We also put a short clip of the studio version of this song about half way through the video so you can hear what the original piece sounds like. It is, of course, quite a bit clearer since it was recorded in a controlled environment with professional studio gear.
All in all we think the result is pretty good considering the fact that it is recorded with a phone. Our curious minds would like to know what kind of results one could achieve in a professional studio environment with this thing. Maybe there is some brave studio engineer up for the task...

Ruben Hein & Jan van Duikeren & Bruut - Elephants @ Radio 6 Dutch Soul & Jazz Award, Amsterdam, Netherlands 04/10/2012
Well, it was no coincidence I attended the evening with the Radio 6 Dutch Soul & Jazz Award. Radio 6 is the Dutch "Soul & Jazz" Radiostation (you can listen wherever you are via the website) and yesterday was the first time the station awarded their Awards for best Dutch singer, talent, live act and the likes.
I was in front of the stage, so I had a very good spot to film some of the evening with the Nokia 808 PureView, and from that I'm sharing the song Elephants by Ruben Hein, with some brilliant trumpet solos by Jan van Duikeren. The band is Bruut! - all musicians are from The Netherlands.
The sound is coming a bit from the back, since I was closer to the stage than the loudspeakers in the venue. But I was maybe 2 meters away from the trumpet player, so you can hear him and his solos very well. Everything was captured using the "scenes" stage setting on the Nokia 808 PureView. I hope you'll enjoy it!
