Orkesterin johtajana toimi kapteeni Sami Salmivuori. NOKIA 808 PUREVIEWFlute of Shame is made up of three friends that met at The University of Hull, Scarborough Campus in 2005. The members Koop Arponen, James Lascelles and Dane Stefaniuk have been involved in a range of musical projects from an early age.
Flute of Shame was involved to the New Wave Song Contest final in Jurmala, Latvia 2011, where Koop and Flute of Shame won the Alla Pugacheva Golden Star Award.

Koop Juho Alexander Arponen (guitar, keyboards, vocals) was born in Finland 20th April 1984 to a Dutch mother and Finnish father. Koop Arponen is a Finnish singer/songwriter and Idols Winner in Finland 2008. He reached the finals and scored a massive 70,3% of the public vote, after singing 4 songs including Neil Young's Old Man and CCR's Have You Ever Seen The Rain.

Dane Michael Stefaniuk (bass guitar, vocals) was born in Manchester, United Kingdom on the 28th September 1984, where he lived until 2005. His musical roots lie within blues, soul and hard rock. He began composing at an early age shortly after joining his first band at school. 

James Stephen Daniel Lascelles (solo guitar, vocals) was born in South London, United Kingdom on the 13th November 1983 and grew up in Hoddesdon, a town in South Hertfordshire. His passion for music started at a young age, playing music regularly with his father on the guitar and learning how to sing at school. At the age of fourteen James began writing music in a range of styles whilst learning to play drums, synthesisers and gaining skills in recording and mixing his own songs. He particularly took an interest in modern progressive and hard rock, (for example: Tool, A Perfect Circle, Alice in Chains) eventually leading him to fuse these influences to form the band Cassini with musicians Simon Lascelles and Mark Coleman.

HTC One with Nokia's HAAC mics vs. Samsung S3 with nonHAAC mics - Audio recording comparison

HTC One has inside illegally Nokia's HAAC (High Amplitude Audio Capture) microphones which they must change to nonHAAC mics, because Nokia has been granted 22th April, 2013 a preliminary injunction by the Amsterdam district court concerning the technology HTC used in its current flagship HTC One. HAAC microphone technology is the result of several years research and development of Nokia. So the microphone manufacturer STMicroelectronics (company registered in Amsterdam) can't sell HAAC microphones to other parties than Nokia anymore, until februari 2014 that is. For every microphone it will sell to HTC or other parties, it has to pay a fine of €50.000, with a maximum of one million euro.

You probably do know the song, but you don't know it's of Dutch origin. Venus by Shocking Blue (original videoclip here) was a giant hit in 1969 and once again in 1986 after Bananarama covered it. Sung by the late Mariska Veres (who died of cancer in 2006) Venus probably is one of the most succesful songs in Dutch history of pop music.

Why am I writing all this? Because during the concert I recorded from a lucky close distance with my Nokia 808 PureView, Sandra van Nieuwland and her band brought her own version of the song. And since it's so well-known still, I figured you would like to see the complete recording I made.

I really like her voice, but the most important reasons to share this video are how the Nokia 808 PureView handles the dark atmosphere on stage and - once more - the incredible quality Rich Recording.

The band is playing really loud, the camera sometimes has a hard time focussing because of the smoke, but the stereo sound remains crystal clear as ever. So here is an 44 year old song I guess we all know in a new version. I hope you'll enjoy it!

The mrs. and me visited a concert of a local celebrity in the Netherlands, a female singer who ended second in the TV contest The Voice Of Holland. Meanwhile, it looks like she has more success than the actual winner has since then, but I didn't follow the contest that close to be honest. I always had a weak spot for mrs. Sandra van Nieuwland though, because I liked her remarkably flexible voice a lot and she always managed to give a nice twist to the songs she covered.

Last evening I recorded several songs during her concert in De Vorstin in Hilversum. With the Nokia 808 PureView, of course - I noticed more professional camera equipment was being forbidden, including DSLR's. People could only use their smartphones - I figure the Nokia 808 PureView is still not very well-known :-)

Showing you all the songs I recorded would take you more than half an hour - and moreover I don't think the management would be too thrilled about me sharing them all on YouTube. So I decided to make this small "collage" of seven songs I selected from my recordings.

With this, I just want to prove the incredible capacities of the Nokia 808 PureView (notice the Rich Recording and the advantages of Lossless Zoom) and share the music of this extremely talented Dutch female singer.

So here it is. I was in fourth row standing in front of the stage, luckily with not too tall people in front of me. From this distance, Lossless Zoom is just about perfect. And Rich Recording in fact always is. If you're not from the Netherlands, I doubt you'll know this lady, but I hope you'll enjoy her music! :-)
